Tasks and Responsibilities

I used to be a global ambassador. So, what is global ambassador? Global ambassador are student leaders who receive new international students to the Lakeside campus and assist them in their integration into university life. As an extension of the International Student Services(ISS), Global Mobility Office(GMO) and International Office(IO), the Global Ambassadors exchange views and outlooks,first-hand experiences and practical advice on student life to all new international student. The job purpose is to lead,support and encourage new international students' engagement and participation in on-campus or off-campus activities. We do have three different departments which are Global Mobility Office,International Students Services and International Offices. For the Global Mobility Office(GMO), GMO will responsible for the Short Mobility Programmes which is airport pick-up & drop-off arrangement, master of ceremony,ice-breaking activities,campus tour, provide relevant information deemed useful(public transportation,places of interest) and more. Besides that, GMO also responsible for the Exchange Programme which ushering students to International Office and respective Divisional Office upon arriving at the University along with assisting in locating medical centers for medical check-up. For the International Student Services(ISS), ISS will responsible Exchange Engagement Programme (EEP) *which is a social and cultural integration programme designed for incoming exchange students at Taylor's University. They will plan,organize and execute Welcome Party and Farewell Party for exchange students( tasks include MC, ice breaking activities, mingling with the students, presentation on living in Malaysia and more). Furthermore, plan, organize and execute cultural/excursion/community service trips for exchange students. ISS center liaise with faculty/schools in regard to enquiries/questions raised by the international students. For the International Office(IO), IO responsible customer service which support the management and operation of International Student Consultancy Counter including airport pickup services to all the international students as well as support front line officers in maintaining high customer service standards in all aspects of work which ensure prompt and effective responses to counter enquiries from students and visitors in the most courteous and professional manner. Moreover, they also dealing with visa matters, filing the documents and records keeping and more.

Training

During the Global Ambassador Programme, we gone through a lot of training which included the topics of Leadership, Event/ Project Planning, Time Management, Professionalism, Public Speaking, the information about Malaysia, Soft Skills Training and more. The training was conducted by our lecturer. The purposes of training is used to improve quality of work force, enhance the members' growth and more.

Global Youth Conference 2014

During the Global Ambassador Programme, I participated in Global Youth Conference which from 11 October 2014 to 12 October 2014 at Taylor's University Lakeside Campus. The two-day conference is tailor-made as an avenue for like-minded students leaders to participate in a series of forums,talks and dialogues that will enhance their readiness to join the global market as productive contributors. Experienced speakers and innovators are invited to share their expertise to broaden the students' spectrum in becoming versatile leaders of the global market. At the same time, the conference provides unique opportunities for the students to establish global connections from knowledge sharing and networking. The conference is organised by the International Students Services of Taylor's University with the support of the Support Affairs and Development Division of the Ministry of Education Malaysia and Secretariat HEP-IPTS. The objectives for the Global Youth Conference 2014 are to provide a conductive environment for student leaders to hone their skills and aptitudes particularly in the areas of leadership,entrepreneurship and community service initiatives. Beyond that, to inspire student leaders in enhancing their skill sets as versatile leaders of the global marketplace and more. The experienced speakers and innovators included Mr. Thomas Ng who talked about Entrepreneurship: Beyond CSR, after that is Mr.Vinesh Naidu who talked about Your Leadership Jouney-Purpose and Passion, and continue with Mr.Giles Crellin who talked about Nation-Building trough Educational Leadership Teach for Malaysia, last but not least is Mr.Mattew Holland who talked about Personal Development and Team Dynamics and lastly is Ms.Rosemary Tan who talk about Entrepreneurship-Success, Talent and Opportunities. It was really a nice conference for me and I really benefit a lot from it.

Taylor's University Global Ambassadors Team Building 2015

I join our junior batch of ambassador to go for the team building activities from 19 September 2015 to 20 September 2015 and we went to Brindley Training Camp in Port Dickson. The objectives are to establish strong group communication,teamwork and relationship among each other as well as to experience new awareness of their needs and how to meet them through team effort and out of the box training. This team building event is a platform for the Global Ambassadors to engage,assimilate and understand each other better through outdoor camping experience. We did have some training which our lecturer will give us the topics and we had to debate with our opponent team. So, we had to work together in a team. We also had outdoor activity which were beach volleyball,raft-building. All of the activities contain the teamwork and in order to complete our activities we work together as a team.
